The girls have been making a lot of pretend lemonade lately. One sunny afternoon I sent them outside and said it’s time to get some fresh air. When I went out to check on them they yelled up from the bottom deck ” Mom we are making fresh air for allllll the people and its called Lemonade”….. Apparently they really hold lemonade up there with the all essential, life giving air we breathe, or I just have them royally confused in life. We have had a pretty nasty cold running through our house this week, but Paisley definitely had the worst part of it. A couple afternoons ago I had her down for a nap and Elizabeth requested that we make some lemonade. We started with just regular old lemons, but I didn’t have enough so we had to improvise and came up with a pretty tasty treat.
Lemon & Lime Mint Lemonade Recipe
3-4 lemons or 1 cup of lemon juice
2 limes or 1/2 cup of lime juice
1 cup of sugar
8 cups of water
a few mint sprigs
Juice all your lemons and limes and add them to a juice jug, then add your sugar and water and give it a good stir. We cut up some lime wedges and tossed those in there along with about 4 sprigs of mint and ice, so refreshing!
Lemonade is a great recipe to do with kids. Its super easy and they LOVE squeezing the lemons and limes. We made a rather huge mess for making a simple jug of juice but it was a fun afternoon spent together and thats what counts!
