One of our favourite meals to eat is Beef Stew. This one is so delicious and smells SO amazing while it cooks! Its also super simple and will make dinner just a little bit more exciting! I like to serve ours with fresh bread. If you are local you must check out Loaves natural levain bread. It is super tasty and healthy! You can find it at the Farmers Market or Homesteader Health.

Beer Beef Stew Recipe:

Ingredients

3 tbsp olive oil

1 tbsp butter

2 pounds stew meat

1 whole onion

tbsp garlic powder

1 stalk of celery

1 can of beer ( any kind)

4 cups of beef broth

1 tbsp worcestershire sauce

2 tbsp tomato paste

1/2 tsp paprika

1/2 tsp salt

pepper to taste

1-2 tbsp sugar

4 carrots washed and roughly sliced

4 white potatoes cut into bite size chunks

parsley for color

Heat your butter and olive oil in a dutch oven. Add in your beef in small batches and brown. This is very important and should not be skipped! It adds so much flavour to the end product. Once all your beef is browned remove and add in your onion, garlic and celery and saute for app. 5 min. Then add in your can of beer, beef broth, worcestershire sauce, tomato paste, paprika, salt and pepper, and sugar. Add your browned beef back into the mix. Let cook on a low simmer for 2 hours. Make sure to keep your eye on it and add water if the liquid goes down too much. After two hours of simmering your house will smell amazing and your family will be drooling! Add in your carrots and potatoes and let simmer for another 20-30 min, I know I know it will seem like forever but it will be worth it! Then chop up some parsley sprinkle on and top and serve with your warm crusty bread.

YUM!
